ABOUT US

We were founded in 2011 with a desire to go further. To leave no one behind. To redefine our world. When exclusion defines the situation, we choose to take action. To support. To listen. To put people first. We have grown from three staff members to over 200. From one region to many. From local to international. From one resource to over 40. We are proud to work without borders. And to never lose sight of what matters most: bringing about real change.

OUR METHODOLOGY

We go beyond mere welfare provision, adopting a holistic and personalised approach centred on dignity and human rights.

OUR MISSION

To support people who are excluded
or at risk of exclusion—such as migrants, victims of gender-based violence and human trafficking, people experiencing homelessness or struggling with addiction, children and families living in poverty—so that they can regain their dignity, independence and rights.

OUR VISSION

To build a fairer society, where everyone has access to real opportunities and can live with dignity, independence and stability.

AUTHORISED FOR THE EXTRAORDINARY REGULARISATION OF MIGRANTS

We are an authorised body to participate in the process of regularising migrants. At Betania, we offer our team and expertise to support, guide and assist with the procedures for those who need help with this process. This is another step forward in our commitment to inclusion, personalised care and the defence of people’s rights.

IMPULSO SOCIAL, BETANIA'S DIGITAL MAGAZINE

Impulso social, Betania’s new quarterly digital magazine, is now available.

In this first issue, we offer a closer look at our work, the social challenges we face, and the real-life stories that give meaning to what we do every day. A magazine designed to help you better understand Betania’s impact and continue to build team pride.

OUR COMMITMENT TO CHILDREN

Betania maintains an institutional relationship with the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), with which it has been registered as a Non-Governmental Development Organisation since 3 April 2023.

Within this framework, since last December we have been running an international cooperation project in Brazil, in the communities along the Contas River, in the district of Taboquiña and Agua Fría (Itacaré), which will continue throughout 2026.

The project aims to contribute to improving the living conditions of children, particularly in the areas of health, education and the prevention of child exploitation, including the sexual exploitation of minors, with a special focus on protecting the most vulnerable and supporting teenage mothers aged 14 and 15.

PRONOVIAS AND BETANIA AGAINST CHILD MARRIAGE

We firmly believe that change begins when we come together.

Pronovias has chosen Betania as its only partner organisation in Spain and Europe, and is launching a new strategic initiative to work together to combat forced marriage.

Every year, millions of girls and women fall victim to this form of exploitation that destroys their dignity and their future. It happens in Spain too, closer to home than we think.

Child marriage is a global reality with devastating consequences: it limits opportunities, violates rights and perpetuates cycles of poverty and violence. Learning about and raising awareness of this issue is the first step towards bringing about change.

At Betania, we work to highlight these injustices and promote rights and dignity for all people. Together with Pronovias, we want to take action to prevent child marriage and protect girls, offering support, information and guidance so that their only commitment is to their own future.
